Our team here at Ferree Log Homes can modify any floor plan to your specifications, or we can create custom floor plans from scratch. We routinely work with the landowner and submit floor plan sketches for custom homes. Our architect draws them to scale and works back and forth with the landowner in preliminary mode until we have the home designed exactly as the landowner desires. We then proceed to drawing a full set of blue prints.

Our builders then proceed in constructing your log home.

The floor system for a log home can be placed on a crawl space, basement, or slab.

Our log homes are custom-built, which means that logs are ordered at random lengths and cut on the job site.

General information about our logs

We offer precision cut weather tight kiln-dried logs in Eastern White Pine, Western Red Cedar, and Cypress. In addition, there are thirty variations available in our standard log profiles:

Square, Round, and "D".

After the logs are profiled, each one is inspected and grade stamped by a TPI (Timber Products Inspection, Inc.) trained and certified member of the staff. Logs join together easily. Each joint is sealed by drilling a hole completely through the log, and a dowel is inserted along with energy seal for optimal weather proofing. The logs are stacked "log on log" with a seal gasket, sealant, and fastened together every 24".

Log homes are very energy efficient. A log that has been cut and kiln dried contains millions of tiny cells that once contained moisture, but now contain air. These "air-pockets" produce the same effect as thermal-pane windows. The log walls will collect and store energy, then radiate it back into the home. The technical term for this is "Thermal Mass", which is a natural property in the log that helps to keep inside temperatures of a log home comfortable all year long.

Log-Home Construction Options:
